BREAKING: Bayern Munich agree Xabi Alonso move

Bayern Munich have confirmed that they have agreed a deal to sign Xabi Alonso from Real Madrid.

Negotiations between the Bundesliga club and Real Madrid began earlier this week as officials from the Spanish giants began to raise funds for a move for either Radamel Falcao or Arturo Vidal.

And, Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich have now announced via their official website that they have reached an agreement with Madrid over the transfer of Alonso, with the former Spanish international due to arrive in Munich on Thursday and undergo a medical.

The 32-year-old arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2009 following a spell with English club Liverpool and has since gone on to help the Spanish capital win one La Liga title, two Copa del Rey titles and the Champions League last season.

A fee of around £6m-8m is expected to have been agreed for the battling midfielder to link up with former Barcelona nemesis Pep Guardiola.
