Former Birmingham City striker Nikola Zigic has become a shock transfer target for Arsenal, according to his agent.
The Serbian international was released by Championship side Birmingham City at the end of last season and is currently looking for a new club as the transfer window approaches its end.
The 33-year-old scored 36 goals in 148 games for the Midlands side but Arsenal boss is said to have identified him as a possible replacement for Olivier Giroud, who is injured and could miss a significant amount of the season.
“Wenger called me on Tuesday and stressed his desire to sign Zigic,” Milan Calasan told Telegraf Sport. “He was offered a contract until the end of the year, with a view to it being extended to 2015 – we’ll see what happens.”
