Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has warned the club’s fans to give new signing Angel Di Maria time to adapt to the Premier League.
The Argentine international sealed his move to Old Trafford just moments before the Premier League side were thumped 4-0 in the League Cup by MK Dons and with early pressure already growing on Dutch boss Louis van Gaal, it is expected that the former Real Madrid man will also come with a heap of expectations.
However, Van Gaal has said that the club’s fans must wait for the winger to adapt to life in England before he produces the type of performances that warranted his £57.9m transfer fee.
The Dutchman told Sky Sports: “[Di Maria] shall contribute very much in our way of playing. He is also a creative player. I can change the system with Di Maria because he can also play on the wing and in midfield.
“I think that he can contribute and that’s very important but we don’t have to expect that from tomorrow. He has to adapt to the culture of England and the Premier League and to the philosophy of Manchester United.”
