Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho at a cheaper price.
The Portuguese defensive midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League this summer with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal strongly linked.
And, whilst the former are now believed to be softening their interest, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger are still monitoring his situation at Sporting Lisbon.
The 22-year-old has been hit with a asking price of £24m, but it is now understood by the Italian media site Tuttomercatoweb that he has been offered to Wenger for a smaller fee.
The deal would be significantly smaller but would feature a loan back to Sporting in the first season.
Carvalho made 29 appearances for Sporting last season, scoring four goals in the process.
