Arsenal poised for £24M raid on Real Madrid youngster

Alvaro Morata

Arsenal may be on the brink of making a £24 million bid to Spanish La Liga giant Real Madrid for their highly-rated young striker, Alvaro Morata.

A sensational big-money summer move could be on the cards for the 21-year-old following reports that Real Madrid have now named their price – £24 million – for the youngster, who is rumoured to have been high on Arsenal’s target list for some time.

Morata, who plays for the Spain U21s, struggled to make himself a regular fixture in Real Madrid’s all-star line-up last season. With big name players in the squad such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, who are in-form and at the top of their game, it is no surprise.

The Spaniard expressed his desire play regular first team football and with Real Madrid having confirmed he is free to leave this summer, the player might be tempted by the prospect of life in London.

It is no secret Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is looking to strengthen his frontline after battling through a season with limited forward options owing to player injuries, including the long-term absence of Theo Walcott.

With Morata said to be top of the Frenchman’s wish list, he may be the ideal solution to his striker shortage.
