10-man Arsenal held by Besiktas

Aaron Ramsey was sent off for Arsenal as they were held on Turkey by Besiktas in the first leg of their Champions League tie.

The home side almost made a good start when former Chelsea man Demba Ba attempted to lob Wojciech Szczesny straight from kick-off, but the his effort was saved by the Polish keeper.

Ba seemed determined to put in a performance against the club he nearly joined earlier this summer and he tested Szczesny once more just before the 10 minute mark but was once again denied.

Arsenal did get themselves into the game when Santi Cazorla found space but his shot dragged just wide of the goal.

Jack Wilshere was next to come close for the away side as he curled an effort from 20 yards, but the Besiktas keeper did well.

The home side had another chance just after the break when Olca Sahancut came close but his effort went just wide of the post.

Arsenal were then reduced to ten-men when Aaron Ramsey was sent off for a second booking.

A late chance for Alex Oxlade Chamberlain saw Arsenal nearly snatch an away goal but the game ended 0-0.
