QPR set to sign Netherlands star

QPR are set to splash out around £8m to Norwich City for Netherlands international midfielder Leroy Fer.

According to Sky Sports the west London side are close to agreeing a fee with the Championship club and the deal is expected to be completed before the end of the week, as manager Harry Redknapp continues to strengthen his squad.

Fer, who was a part of the Netherlands World Cup side that reached the semi-finals this summer, has longed for a return to the Premier League after being relegated with Norwich at the end of last season’s campaign and has reportedly been one of the names at the top of Redknapp’s summer wish list.

If the deal goes through, the 24-year-old could potentially be QPR’s sixth signing, following in the footsteps of Rio Ferdinand, Jordan Mutch, Mauricio Isla, Steven Caulker and Eduardo Vargas – who is set to undertake a medical with the club tomorrow.

Fer has only spent one season in England after joining Norwich last summer and scored three goals in 29 games before playing for his country at the World Cup, where he scored in their Group stage match against Chile.

The Dutch midfielder is the latest player linked with a move away from Carrow Road and it seems that the Championship side who are looking to bounce straight back to the Premier League at the first attempt are willing to let him go.
