Luis Suarez: I have dreamed about Barcelona since a boy

Luis Suarez has been officially presented as a Barcelona player and said he is looking forward to making a name for himself at the Camp Nou.

The Uruguayan striker joined Barca from Liverpool in a deal worth around £70m this summer and has finally been announced officially to the club’s fans after a reduction in his ban by the Court of Arbitration.

Suarez was initially banned from all footballing activity by football’s governing body FIFA, but that was soon overturned, allowing him to take part in training and play in Monday night’s friendly against Club Leon.

Speaking on Tuesday at an official press conference, Suarez discussed the incident involving Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini and his new club – Barcelona.

“I am looking forward to enjoying myself here and enjoying the group dynamic. I’ve been wanting to play for Barcelona for years and it’s a dream come true to be here.

“I have been dreaming of playing for Barcelona for years. All the little boys want to achieve this. I didn’t think it would ever happen, so I didn’t think twice when the chance came up.”

The Uruguay star also answered questions on his personal problems and said he was sorry for his actions during the World Cup.

“It’s a personal matter which I would rather not discuss, but I have been speaking with professionals [to make sure there will be no more biting incidents].

“My psychologist told me to get out and offer my apologies and I did that. I now want to move on and focus on football.

“Of course I was concerned after the Chiellini incident and not just about my transfer to Barcelona, but also about my reputation as a person. But that’s in the past now.”
