Argentine defender confirms Man United move

Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo has all-but confirmed his move to Manchester United in an interview with Radio Continental.

Rojo is set to join United on a four-year deal after negotiating terms with the English side on Monday morning and is firmly expected to complete a medical in the coming days.

The Argentine defender had refused to train with current club Sporting Lisbon last week after hearing of United’s interest but apologised for his poor behaviour on Monday.

However the Portuguese club have been forced to sell him to United in a deal that will see Nani go in the other direction.

“It feels like a dream, to be a Manchester United player,” the defender told ARG Radio Continental. “Leaving Sporting wasn’t easy. I am very proud of having the chance of working with Van Gaal.

“[Juan Veron] told me about them when we played for Estudiantes.”

Rojo also discussed the misunderstanding that led to him missing a Sporting training session.

“There was a misunderstanding, I never wanted to do something wrong at Sporting as I have always been very thankful to that team that gave me many chances for playing in Europe,” he continued.

“If I made a mistake, I have already apologised because I didn’t want to hurt the feelings of anyone at the club.”
