Marcos Rojo officials touch down at Old Trafford

Representatives of Marcos Rojo have arrived at Old Trafford to negotiate a deal for the defender to leave Sporting Lisbon and join Manchester United.

Louis van Gaal’s defensive problems were all to clear to see as Man United lost to Swansea City at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon but the Dutch boss is said to have prepared a move for three-four new signings over the next two weeks.

One of those is Argentine defender Marcos Rojo, who performed well for his country at the World Cup this summer in Brazil.

Rojo currently plays for Sporting Lisbon and is valued at around the £20m mark, and it is understood that United have offered Nani and £16m for the full-back.

Whilst that reported bid is still negotiable, it is now understood that representatives have arrived at Old Trafford to complete a move.

Rojo made his feeling regarding a summer move known last week, but apologised to the Portuguese club after refusing to train.

“I was hot-headed and I’m sorry. I’ll be back with the rest of the squad tomorrow,” he said.

“Sporting signed me when I was not at my best and gave me the opportunity to play for a big club in Europe. I would like to thank the trust they had in me and I will resume training on Monday.”
