Chelsea fans were left disappointed on Tuesday night after the long-awaited freeview game against Real Sociedad was met with a severe server overload, causing fans who had selected to watch online to miss Diego Costa’s first two home debut goals in front of a packed Stamford Bridge crowd.

After 20 mins of frustration and lightly tapping my computer screen, I was able to watch the mighty Blues…. However the damage had already been done, the Blues were already 2-0 up, which went on to be the final score, leaving only Chelsea’s sublime movement and passing left to admire.

From what I did manage to see of Chelsea’s final pre-season game of the summer, I was extremely pleased.

The midfield trio of Cesc Fàbregas, Eden Hazard and André Schürrle were excellent in pulling the strings for new boy on the front-line, Costa.

The passing vision and speed were top notch, with the Spanish side struggling to get hold of the ball, at times their defence looked all over the place despite having eleven men behind the play.

Having said that, Chelsea only managed to carve out the odd clear cut chance, guilty of overplaying in the final third.

However the signs look good for Monday night’s fixture against newly promoted Burnley. Most of the players look fully match-fit and sharpness is definitely building up game by game.

The team appears to be gelling well and I don’t think it will be too long before this Chelsea team is in full swing.
