Samuel Eto’o set for move to Ajax

Samuel Eto’o is in line to make a move to Dutch side Ajax, according to Voetbal International.

Ajax sporting director and former Barcelona winger Marc Overmars is keen to sign the Cameroon striker on a short term deal and add his experience and quality to the Dutch side.

Eto’o was released by Chelsea this summer after seeing his one-year not renewed and links to a number of top European clubs have since followed, with some claims in Spanish press linking him with a move to Barcelona, to help facilitate the absence of Luis Suarez, whilst the Uruguayan is banned from playing.

Overmars spoke to Voetbal International about the developments in a move for the former Inter Milan man and said that he would love the deal to be completed.

“Samuel seemed very hungry to play for Ajax. He is fit and has a great drive to succeed once again,

“We don’t want to block the growing process of our talents like [Arkadiusz] Milik and [Richairo] Zivkovic, but if it is possible to sign a world class player like Eto’o, then why not?”

Eto’o is looking for a new club after scoring 12 goals for the West London side last season with all of the goals coming at Stamford Bridge.
