Paris Saint Germain struggle in Ligue 1 opener

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the hero as his goals gave Paris Saint Germain a testing 2-2 draw with Reims on Friday evening as the new Ligue 1 season began.

The defending champions started the new season with a goal from Swedish striker Ibrahimovic, who wrong footed Reims keeper Johnny Placide before slotting the ball into the back of the net.

Moments later and the former AC Milan and Barcelona forward would be given a superb chance to add a second but he missed an open goal after being played in by Lucas Moura, sending his effort on to the post.

The miss gave the hosts a meaning to go forward and they did as Prince Oniangue deflected the ball in from a free-kick.

Moments later Ibrahimovic would again miss a great chance as he sent his penalty straight at Placide.

Reims would then go ahead as Gaetan Charbonnier crossed the ball for Antoine Devaux, who beat Salvatore Sirigu.

PSG searched for an equaliser in the second half but Placide was proving to tough a customer, keeping his side in the game on numerous occasions.

Ibrahimovic would then have a chance to level and with 15 minutes left, he scored.

The final minute saw Edinson Cavani have a match-winning chance but the Uruguayan striker could only head his effort into the side netting.
