Cesc Fabregas’ transfer from Barcelona to Chelsea will see him link up with former enemy and Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho.

It was fully expected that Fabregas would leave Barcelona this summer after a season of inconsistency but it came a surprise to many that he chose to join Chelsea football club, a team he has held a rivalry with before after playing for Arsenal and with boss Mourinho, with whom he has had several altercations.

Perhaps, the biggest and most controversial altercation came between Barca and Real Madrid, then managed by Mourinho, in the Spanish SuperCopa in 2011, when the Portuguese tactician was seen kicking the midfielder in the head.

More altercations followed with a war of words in Spanish press that saw Fabregas claim that Barca were buoyed by Mourinho’s actions and comments, citing that it made them play better and with more desire.

Mourinho left Madrid in 2013 and made a return to Chelsea, where he quickly made his mark, selling Spanish midfielder Juan Mata and seemingly Fabregas is a replacement.

The two will no doubt sit down to discuss their previous issues, but many are predicting that the former Gunners midfielder will thrive of the character of the former Inter Milan boss.
