European giants battle it out for Cuadrado

FIFA World Cup 2014 star Juan Cuadrado is under hot pursuit by two European giants Manchester United and FC Barcelona, with the Red Devils believed to be edging closer to a deal.

Football Express News understands Man United are set to make an audacious bid in the region of £ 30-35m to Serie A side Fiorentina for the Colombian star.

The Red Devils are still looking to fill the void which was created after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and creative winger Cuadrado could be the perfect fit.

Current Man United wingers are not considered top performers like Ronaldo. Nani, Ashley Young and Luis Antonio Valencia have all failed to impress the fans due to their average performances.

United failed to land Gareth Bale last season after the Welsh wide-man chose to play for La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid.

It is understood that Cuadrado impressed United boss Louis van Gaal with his pace and skill for the Colombia side during the World Cup 2014 in Brazil.

On the other hand, FC Barcelona are also interested in Cuadrado. After the departure of Alexis Sanchez, who has moved to Arsenal, the Spanish heavyweights have made Cuadrado one of their main targets.

Barcelona’s president is believed to be a big fan of the Colombian and the club has been tracking the star for quite some time.

Our sources in Italy tell us that Manchester United are the preferred club to acquire the signature of Cuadrado as they can offer him higher wages and more attractive transfer fee to his club Florentina, than Catalan giants Barcelona.

Cuadrado has just returned to Italy and we will see some developments in the coming days as he will meet with Fiorentina co-owner Della Valle on Friday to make a decision on his future.
