BLOG: Players to be axed by Louis Van Gaal

van gaal

It has been a good start to the era of Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.  After great success in the pre-season, the Dutchman is ready to offload players that have not done enough to impress him.

The following are players considered likely candidates to be offloaded by Van Gaal:

Manchester United v Wigan Athletic - FA Community Shield

1. Anderson

The midfielder, who signed for Man United for £ 25m as a teenager by Sir Alex Ferguson, hasn’t had an impact on the United midfield since his arrival. Constantly injured or out of form, Anderson rarely had a string of games. Anderson was loaned out to Italian side Fiorentina last season and not given a chance to impress in the pre-season by Van Gaal. According to reports, FC Porto are interested to sign back the Brazilian midfielder.

Wilfried-Zaha

 2. Wilfried Zaha

Zaha is Sir Alex’s last signing as he was signed to Man United for £15m in the 2012/2013 season. He had a great first pre-season under David Moyes but was not given a chance in the first team after that. He was loaned out to Cardiff City but did not seem to impress Moyes there either. Zaha was given a chance by Van Gaal but he was unfortunate to not grab an assist or a goal in the pre-season. According to reports, United are willing to cash in on Zaha as they think, he still has some market value.

Nani

3. Nani

The winger was signed by Man United for£ 20m in the 2007/2008 season. Nani was named the player of the year by his team-mates in 2011 but after that perfect season, he has failed to deliver and went missing in games. For every fantastic performance that he has, there are a string of bad ones just around the corner. Despite signing a long-term contract last season, the Portuguese winger is one who is considered likely to be sold by Van Gaal.

4. Marouane Fellaini

Fellaini was Moyes’s first signing during his time in charge of the side last season. He bought him for £27.5m on transfer deadline day last summer. The player was considered one of the deadliest midfield players at the time, alongside Everton’s Yaya Toure. The Belgian had a disappointing start to his career at Man United and failed to impress the fans with his lacklustre performances and lack of goals. There have been reports linking the player to Napoli as it is believed the owner of the club is a big fan of Fellaini’s hair.
