Van Gaal has ‘doubts’ over signing Vidal

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has some ‘doubts’ regarding a proposed move for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to a report.

It has been one of the summer’s most talked about transfer stories but still their seems to be no end to the links of Arturo Vidal joining Manchester United from Juventus.

Vidal, who struggled during the World Cup for the Chilean national side due to a knee injury is said to be closing in on a move to Old Trafford.

The Chilean midfielder is wanted at Old Trafford and after having talks with his current club – Juventus, last week, wants the move himself.

However, new United boss Louis van Gaal is reportedly holding up the move due to doubts over his fitness and the re-occurring knee injury.

“Manchester United want Vidal, but Van Gaal has some doubts,” Sampaoli told El Mercurio.

“Right now the great obstacle to his $80 million [£47m] transfer from Juventus to Manchester United is over the improvement of Arturo’s knee. Vidal set a great example at the World Cup in Brazil by playing when he wasn’t in perfect shape.”
