Arsenal target Karim Benzema is currently in the middle of a contact battle with Spanish giants Real Madrid, prompting reports of a summer exit.
The French striker is currently preparing in Brazil with his national team for the World Cup but talks of his future at the Santiago Bernabeu continue to roll on, with Spanish media confident that he will now move on from Madrid and be replaced by one of the likes of Luis Suarez or Sergio Aguero.
Benzema, who helped Madrid win a much coveted 10th European title and Spanish Cup last season, caused Madrid officials concern after he scored just one goal in his last 13 games of the season, prompting their interest in Liverpool’s Suarez and Manchester City’s Aguero.
Officials from the Spanish club are concerned that Benzema has hit a bad run of form and are seemingly unwilling to pay his latest contract demands, which he had hoped would tie him down to a longer deal than that of his current contract, which will expire next summer.
Spanish daily AS claim that the former Lyon man has told Madrid that he desires around £8m per season, doubling his current deal.
