Sunderland have completed the signing of Jack Rodwell from Manchester City.
The 23-year-old joined Man City two summers back from Everton in a £12m deal but his time at the club has been dampened by injury problems and a failure to break past the likes of Fernandinho, Samir Nasri, Yaya Toure and Javi Garcia in terms of a starting place in City’s midfield.
The arrival for another midfielder Fernando earlier this summer and most recently – Frank Lampard, on loan from New York City FC; saw his chances reduced even further at the club.
And, following interest from a number of Premier League clubs – Sunderland have now announced his signature.
The former Everton man arrived on Wearside yesterday and undertook a medical after heavy discussions over his personal terms.
The English youngster has signed a five-year contract at the Northern club.
