Luis Suarez ban to be reduced by half

Spanish daily Marca have reported that Barcelona’s Luis Suarez will receive a reduction on his ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup in Brazil.

The Uruguayan striker is currently waiting to hear the result of an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after biting the shoulder of Giorgio Chiellini during his country’s tie with Italy last month.

Suarez’s lawyers are now increasingly confident that there will be a big reduction to the punishment handed down by FIFA and will wait in anticipation for the result, set to be released on August 8th.

The player and his lawyers have not wanted to discuss the case publicly and new club – Barcelona, are also unwilling to add their thoughts on the upcoming decision.

Marca claim that the ban is likely to be reduced by half, which would mean he could make his debut for the Catalan side in September.
