Borussia Dortmund have rejected Liverpool’s bid for Marco Reus, confirming that the winger will remain at the Bundesliga club.

The Anfield based club are on a summer spending spree at present and have already freshened up their squad with the additions of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Emre Can, whilst they have recouped some spending money by selling Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

Officials from the Merseyside club flew out to Germany two weeks ago to make contact and submit a bid for German winger Reus.

But weeks on and Bundesliga club Dortmund have rejected their offer, refusing to allow the winger to leave the club this summer.

Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has reiterated the club’s desire to keep Reus.

“We have said many times this summer that Reus will not leave,” he told Kicker. “Marco will play with us next season.

“There is no possibility that he will play elsewhere. We will try to tie him to our club for longer and we are proceeding with peace of mind that he will renew his deal.”
