Real Madrid planning replacement for Arsenal bound Khedira

Spanish daily AS report that Real Madrid have moved to sign Luiz Gustavo as a replacement for Sami Khedira after the German edged closer to joining Arsenal.

News broke late on Sunday evening about Khedira’s proposed move to Arsenal with a meeting being held between the German midfielder’s officials and the Gunners and that has led to Real Madrid pursuit of Luiz Gustavo.

The report in AS goes on to add that with Khedira entering the final 12 months of his current deal; his move away from the club – likely to Arsenal – is certain to happen this summer.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich have both been credited with interest for the World Cup winner but Arsenal seem determined to get their man and add him alongside fellow German players – Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and Mesut Ozil.

Madrid are keen to look at the chances of signing Gustavo, who is currently at Wolfsburg.

The Brazilian midfielder represented his country at the World Cup this summer and impressed, prompted Carlo Ancelotti to ponder a move for the former Bayern Munich man.
