Van Gaal to inform fringe players of Man United future

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has said that he will inform each of his fringe players about their future at the club following the Monday game with Liverpool.

United will face Liverpool in the International Champions Cup final on Monday, before returning home to England to prepare for the start of the Premier League season.

The Dutchman has used 26 players on the US tour and has secured an impressive four wins against LA Galaxy, Inter Milan, Roma and Real Madrid.

For some players such as Marouane Fellaini, Wilfried Zaha and Javier Hernandez – the tour has been a chance to prove themselves to the former Dutch international boss.

And, Van Gaal has told reporters that those fringe players will be informed of their position at the club on return to Manchester.

“I shall make judgements. After this tour I shall make judgements because I let all the players play and I know now more than before the tour,” he said.

“But also it’s a little bit soon to judge. I football you have to judge because you have to give a chance to the player to make a transfer when I see that his prospects to play aren’t so high.

“Then you have to say it. And you have to say it in advance. When it is August 31, it is too late. So I shall say to the players what I think after this tour. To them, but not to you.”
