Van Gaal informs Madrid of midfielder wish

khedira

Football Express News understands that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has made Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira a top target after missing out on Toni Kroos.

The Dutch coach is yet to arrive at Old Trafford as he looks to guide the Dutch national side to a possible World Cup success in Brazil.

However, his planning for next season is well under way as he looks to rebuild a squad that suffered last season and finished outside of the Champions League places.

One player who has been strongly linked with a move to United is Toni Kroos of Bayern Munich but it is understood that the German international has held positive discussions with Real Madrid officials in the last few days.

That has since prompted Van Gaal to look closer at another German – Sami Khedira. The midfielder missed the majority of last season for Madrid through injury and is expected to lose his place if Kroos is signed from Bayern.

Whilst, nothing is likely to happen during the World Cup finals, contact has been made and Madrid are now aware of United’s interest.
