Arsenal defender keeps Man United waiting on move

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen is yet to decide on whether or not he should join Manchester United after receiving a second offer.

The Belgian defender has long been linked with a summer move to Man United after he seemingly lost his place in the Arsenal starting eleven thanks to the good form of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.

Whilst, he is fully expected to be wearing the red of United next season, it is now understood that he is currently debating whether or not to make the move after receiving a second offer from a unnamed club – understood to be Barcelona.

The Spanish giants have been desperate to sign a centre back this summer and after completing a move for Jeremy Mathieu from Valencia, boss Luis Enrique wants to add even more strength in depth.

Vermaelen has been linked with Barca before, having nearly joined them whilst with Dutch side Ajax.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are also looking to improve their defensive options should Vermaelen leave and have made moves to sign Real Madrid defender Thomas Vermaelen.
