Rooney wants to face Man City in US final

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has discussed the club’s pre-season tour of United States and how he would like to face Manchester City in the final of their International Champions Cup.

A victory over Real Madrid on Saturday will see Man United advance to the International Cup final and possibly face off against their arch rivals and neighbours Man City and Rooney has discussed the prospect of facing Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

“It would be fantastic if we could play Man City rivals in the final, but first of all we have a game against Real Madrid tomorrow and it’s important for us to win,” the England international added. “We want to win the game and end the group as leaders.

The former Everton striker was then drawn to comment on the arrival of Dutch boss Louis van Gaal and answered several questions on his new system and methods in training.

“The system has been very good, obviously the manager has come in and we have been training in a different system, but it’s great, even at my age, to learn something new and try and get better with the team.”
