Galatasaray president Unal Aysal has confirmed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has told him that Joel Campbell will be staying with the Gunners.

    The Costa Rican forward has widely impressed in recent season, having spent time on loan with Spanish side Real Betis and Greek side Olympiacos, scoring against Manchester United in the Champions League last season.

    And, after further impressing for his country at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, which saw him help his side knock the likes of Italy and England out of the Group Stages; Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is confident that he can return to the Emirates and prove himself at the club.

    Turkish club Galatasaray have attempted to make a move for the youngster, but their president Unal Aysal has confirmed that Wenger is refusing to allow the striker to leave.

    “Yes, I want him for our team,” he said, according to Sporx. “But Arsene Wenger wants to keep him in the squad this season and benefit from him.

    “Nothing’s happening at the moment. Wenger won’t allow this transfer.”
