Rakitic fires shots at Real Madrid, insisting Sevilla will win Super Cup

Former Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic has told Real Madrid that his former club will beat them in the European Super Cup later this month.

Sevilla’s Europa League, inspired by Croatian midfielder Rakitic sees them face off against Spanish rivals Real Madrid in the annual European Super Cup later this month and their former player – now at Barcelona, believes that they can beat the Champions League winners.

“I bet Sevilla win the Super Cup against Real Madrid,” the 26-year-old told AS. “They can win. I was invited to go to the game.”

The Barcelona midfielder then discussed his new team-mates and heaped praise on Lionel Messi and Neymar, before commenting on the arrival of Luis Enrique as coach.

“Messi is the most outstanding player for many years. God has given a special gene, a different something that makes him the best,” he added. “Despite Neymar’s youth he does amazing things. People in his country love him madly.

“Luis Enrique works out all the details and leaves no doubt in the players. Emery also demanded pressure throughout the field, so the change was not as large as people think.”
