Napoli edge closer to loan signing of Liverpool midfielder

Football Express News understands that Lucas Leiva is close to leaving Anfield and making a summer loan move to Italian side Napoli.

The Brazilian midfielder has been told to find a new club this summer after the arrival of Adam Lallana and Emre Can at Anfield.

A number of Premier League clubs have shown interest, but Italian side Napoli have maintained their interest throughout the summer with former Reds boss Rafael Benitez keen to work with the Brazil international once more.

Whilst it was originally thought that Lucas would move on a permanent deal to Naples, it is now understood that a loan deal has been initially agreed.

Lucas arrived at Liverpool in 2007 and has since gone on to make 243 appearances for the Merseyside club, with his only honour coming when they won the League Cup back in 2011/2012.

A move to Italy is now expected to be sealed in the coming days, adding to a long list of transfer ins and outs at Liverpool this summer.
