Atletico: We don’t want Torres, Cazorla or Hernandez

La Liga champions Atletico Madrid have strongly denied rumours that suggest they are close to signing Premier League attackers Fernando Torres, Santi Cazorla and Javier Hernandez.

Atletico president Enrique Cerezo has told Spanish media he is fully aware of the speculation linking the three Hispanic players to Madrid but insists none of them are of interest to the club now or in the immediate future.

“Many names have been mentioned, but none of those players, neither Cazorla,Torres nor Chicharito (Hernandez) are on our agenda,” he told Radio Marca. “If we sign another player, it won’t be any of them.”

It has been widely reported this summer that Chelsea striker Torres was set for a move back to his boyhood club Atletico, however Blues boss Jose Mourinho has also made it clear El Nino is not going home to the Spanish capitol and said he has no intentions of selling the 30-year-old to any other club, either.

Last month Arsenal midfielder Cazorla tried to quash rumours of a pending move to the Champions League finalists by publicly stating he is happy at Arsenal.

He told ESPN: “I am happy at Arsenal at the moment.”

Atletico boss Diego Simeone may have recently admitted he would like to sign Manchester United forward Hernandez but club president Cerezo has confirmed the Mexican is definitely not a prospect they have their sights on.

It has been a busy summer at the Vicente Calderon, with Antoine Griezmann (forward), Mario Mandzukic (forward) and Jan Oblak (goalkeeper) having joined the Spanish champions and Diego Costa (forward), Diego (midfielder) and Filipe Luis (defender) all having moved on. Chelsea on-loan goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has also waved goodbye to Madrid and headed back to rejoin his parent club in west London.
