Juventus change stance on United transfer

Juventus have cooled their interest in Manchester United winger Nani, according to fresh reports in the Italian media.

TuttoSport claims the Portugal international is now viewed as a back-up option to Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi, leaving AC Milan in pole position to land the Red Devils outcast.

Nani wants to quit United in order to make the switch to a Serie A club and aims to depart the Premier League before the summer transfer window slams shut.

However, the report claims Milan are being frustrated in their attempts to land the ex-Sporting Lisbon man because they are struggling to sell outcast Robinho.

They need to shift the Brazilian off their wage bill in order to make room for Nani, but the former Manchester City attacker’s proposed departure to the MLS, where he has several suitors, is no closer to completion.

Vice-president Adriano Galliani remains in a regular dialogue with his United counterparts and has set his sights on a compromise deal which could include add-ons based on appearances.

The hierarchy have promised new head coach Filippo Inzaghi significant investment in the squad in an attempt to bounce back from last term, when they finished eighth in the table and failed to win a piece of silverware.

Nani made only 13 appearances for his team last season after falling out of favour with then-manager David Moyes prior to suffering several muscle problems which kept him sidelined for the majority of the season.
