Arsenal beaten by Bayern Munich in race for Khedira

Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has held discussion with Bayern Munich over a move to the Bundesliga giants in 2015.

The German World Cup winner missed the majority of last season through injury but he managed to return to full fitness and play an important part in Germany’s successful world title this summer in Brazil.

His performances ignited heavy interest from a number of Premier League sides, with Arsenal and Manchester United being the pick of the bunch.

United, who had strong interest last summer and saw a large bid rejected by the Spanish giants have been less than public with their interest, compared to Arsenal, who were desperate to sign Khedira and add him to their squad for the coming season.

But, according to several reports in Spanish press, it is now understood that Bayern Munich have spoken to the midfielder about joining them on a free transfer in 2015.

Khedira’s current deal expires next summer and the Bavarian side believe that they can convince him not to renew and move to Allianz Arena.
