Liverpool reject chance to re-sign Fernando Torres

Football Express News understands that Liverpool have rejected the chance to re-sign Fernando Torres after Chelsea offered the Spaniard.

The Spanish striker left Liverpool back in 2011 for a fee of £50m to Premier League side Chelsea but his time at the club, despite winning the Champions League has not gone according to plan.

Poor form and a struggle to make his mark in a Chelsea shirt has seen the former Atletico Madrid player score just 45 goals in 172 games.

The arrival of Jose Mourinho back at Stamford Bridge last summer has had an impact this summer after the Portuguese coach changed several aspects of his strike force, axing Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba, whilst re-signing Didier Drogba and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa.

Torres’ place at the club is now in jeopardy and it is understood by our sources that the Spaniard was offered to former club Liverpool on Wednesday but the Merseyside club decided not to move forward with the offer.

Former club Atletico Madrid remain keen and at a recent presentation of Mario Mandzukic at the Vicente Calderon, chants of ‘Torres’ were heard amongst Atleti fans.
