Everton chase ex-Liverpool winger

Everton hope to lure Chelsea winger Victor Moses back to Merseyside, Football Express News understands.

A source close to Goodison Park told FEN the Toffees favour a permanent deal rather than a loan switch and are confident of landing the Nigeria international.

Moses spent last season on loan at Liverpool but failed to secure a regular starting berth in Brendan Rodgers’ side during their Premier League title challenge, which saw them finish the campaign in second spot.

He has been deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and the Everton insider revealed Moses has been identified as a replacement for Gerard Deulofeu, who has returned to Barcelona after a temporary stint.

Everton head coach Roberto Martinez is keen to work with his former Wigan Athletic attacker once more and hopes his relationship with the 23-year-old will give him the edge over the other clubs aiming to secure his services.

Midlands pair Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion are also in the hunt and Moses is thought to be resigned to the fact that he will not break into the Chelsea side.

His path to first-team action in west London is blocked by the likes of Willian, Mohamed Salah, Eden Hazard and Andre Schurrle.

Moses has three years left to run on his current contract.
