Football Express News understands that Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea.
The London born defender has struggled to force his way into Chelsea’s first team and was loaned to Aston Villa last season, making 10 appearances in the Midlands.
The signing of Brazilian Filipe Luis at Stamford Bridge has once again seen the 24-year-old’s chances of becoming a regular under Jose Mourinho fade and it is now understood that Ryan Bertrand will be joining Liverpool in the coming days.
A fee worth more than £8m is said to have been agreed, with Liverpool happy to sign the former England U21 international.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers had his heart set on signing Alberto Moreno from Sevilla but problems over a transfer fee have seen the Northern Irish coach move his attention towards Bertrand.
An announcement is now due at the end of the week.
