Barcelona and Liverpool discuss Agger move

Football Express News understands that Barcelona and Liverpool are discussing a move that will see Daniel Agger move to Camp Nou.

Barcelona’s need to strengthen their defence has largely been ignored by previous coaches – Tito Vilanova and Tata Martino, but the addition of Luis Enrique as boss this summer has seen the Catalan club make several moves to fix a problem, which fans of the club have long criticised.

A move for Jeremy Mathieu was completed last week, signing from Valencia in a deal worth around £16m and former midfielder Enrique still wants to add another central defender.

Marquinhos from Paris Saint Germain has been strongly linked, whilst reports in Spanish press have linked Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen to the club.

But, it is now understood that following Liverpool’s move to sign Dejan Lovren from Southampton; Daniel Agger is free to leave the club, giving Barcelona reason to make an approach.

Discussions between the two clubs have since begun, whilst the Danish centre-back has been made aware of Barca’s interest.
