Former Arsenal keeper Manuel Almunia is set to complete a move to Italian side Cagliari.
The 37-year-old arrived in England in 2004 and spent a successful eight years at Arsenal before being loaned out to West Ham United and then being sold to Watford.
His time with Championship side Watford came to an end at the end of last season, following former boss Gianfranco Zola out of the club and despite calls for his retirement, the Spaniard is now closing in on a deal to sign for Cagliari.
“Tomorrow we will sign a goalkeeper with many Champions League appearances under his belt,” Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini told Sky Sport Italia.
Reports had linked the Italians with a move for Julio Cesar or Guillermo Ochoa.
