Cech and Courtois to share number one spot

Chelsea number one Petr Cech insists he will remain at the club despite competition from returning Thibaut Courtois.

Courtois will return to Chelsea after spending four seasons with Atletico Madrid, where he played an important part in helping the Madrid side win the Europa League, the La Liga title and reaching the Champions League final in May.

The Belgian international has developed at a significant rate and is now regarded as one of the most impressive keepers in European football by coaches, media and fans of the game.

His arrival back at Stamford Bridge was expected to see Cech leave the club, but the Czech Republic international has confirmed that he will stay and fight for his place at the club.

“I’m staying at Chelsea, that for sure,” Cech told Ekipa24.

“I really don’t mind that there are two great keepers at Chelsea. That motivates me ever more.

“You always have to fight if you want to be on great level. And there is not only Courtois and me, even Matej Delac is showing that he is great keeper.”
