Atletico Madrid have completed a move for Antoine Griezmann from Real Sociedad.
The French attacking midfielder has been heavily linked with a move from La Real this summer after impressing for the La Liga club last season and the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid have been the key interested clubs in recent weeks.
Whilst, North London side Spurs have been extremely keen, a bid of £15m was not enough to tempt Sociedad into selling their prized asset, whilst they cited a desire to only sell the youngster for his release clause, set at £24m.
And, as we reported on Saturday morning, Atletico Madrid have paid the correct fee to Sociedad for his services.
The French international will arrive in Madrid in the coming days to complete his move, adding some extra quality to the Spanish champions after they sold Diego Costa to Chelsea earlier this summer.
“Atlético Madrid and Real Sociedad have reached an agreement for the transfer of Antoine Griezmann,” a statement read on Atletico’s official website.
“The young French footballer will sign a contract with our teams once he passes his medical.”
