Juventus offer United target five-year contract

Juventus are reportedly close to convincing midfielder Paul Pogba to sign a contract extension running until 2019.

Italian source TuttoSport claims Manchester United’s lingering hopes of luring the France international back to the club he left years ago are on the brink of being extinguished.

After months of negotiations and false dawns, the Turin giants’ CEO Beppe Marotta and the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, are said to have reached an agreement on a lucrative new deal.

The 21-year-old is in line to earn £2.5million per season and has also seen his bonuses increased by £790,000.

Raiola is one of the most powerful agents in world football and also represent the interests of high-profile figures like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mario Balotelli.

A source close to Old Trafford told Football Express News the Red Devils held an interest in buying back their former player, but have been aware since the start of the summer transfer window that Juve would do everything in their power to keep him.

The Premier League outfit are still keen to land Pogba’s team-mate, Arturo Vidal, but are yet to make a breakthrough in their pursuit.

Pogba has two years remaining on his current contract but Juve hope to announce the new arrangement in the coming days.
