Chelsea legend Drogba hours away from signing deal

Chelsea icon Didier Drogba is likely to announce his emotional return to Stamford Bridge by tonight, Football Express News understands.

A source close to the club told FEN the eagerly-anticipated deal is close to completion and the veteran striker is expected to make a decision in the next two hours.

He will then announce his intentions in public, with the Blues growing in confidence that he has opted to head back to west London on a free transfer.

The 36-year-old is available after running down the final days of his contract with Turkish giants Galatasaray.

His final act for the club he adores came in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich in 2012, when he scored the winning spot-kick in a penalty shoot-out at the Allianz Arena.

He then embarked on a brief stint with Chinese Super League team Shanghai Shenhua prior to his switch to Turkey at the start of 2013.

His first campaign there was a success as his five strikes helped them lift the title, but last term proved more challenging as they had to settle for second spot, although they did win the Turkish Cup.

Drogba, who joined Chelsea from Marseille for £24m a decade ago, won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups and a Champions League in a memorable eight-year stay.
