Gerrard awarded new Liverpool contract

Football Express News understands that Steven Gerrard has signed a new one-year contract extension with Liverpool.

Gerrard recently announced that he would no longer be playing for the English national side after citing his desire to help Liverpool domestically and in the Champions League.

His decision was warmly appreciated by fans of the Three Lions and Liverpool and it is now understood that the midfielder has signed a new one-year extension on his contract at Anfield.

Boss Brendan Rodgers spoke to the Liverpool Echo about the new deal and said he was delighted.

“I am very happy that Steven is now going to commit to Liverpool, and I am sure that is something that we will look at,” Rodgers is quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo after being asked about his captain’s contract situation.

“He is in real good condition, and I’m sure it is something that will happen at some point.

“Listen, for his own mind, I’m sure he will want it sorted out, absolutely. You never want to leave players with not too long to go on their contract.”
