Atletico Madrid close in on Man United striker

Football Express News understands that Atletico Madrid are closing in on the signing of Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez.

The Mexican striker has somewhat lost his place in the Man United starting eleven over recent seasons and has found playing time hard to come by, making just 24 league appearances last season with the majority of those coming from the substitutes bench.

Hernandez has gained plenty of interest with the likes of Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid having made contact with the English side, who have been instructed to sell the striker by new boss Louis van Gaal.

Spanish champions Atletico have held talks with United in recent days, whilst Inter Milan have been toying with the idea to sign the 26-year-old.

Hernandez is seen as the perfect striker partner for Mario Mandzukic, who joined Atletico Madrid earlier this summer and it is though that he has spoken to international team-mate Carlos Vela about life in the Spanish league.

Inter Milan are not going to give up though, with former United captain Nemanja Vidic keen to link up with his former team-mate at the San Siro.
