Suarez ban set to be lifted by CAS

Luis Suarez may start the season with Barcelona after reports that the Court of Arbitration for Sport may overturn his domestic match ban.

The Uruguayan striker was involved in a controversial incident this summer at the Brazil World Cup when he bit the shoulder of Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini and he received a four month domestic and nine game international ban for his actions.

Suarez, who was playing for Liverpool at the time has since made the move to La Liga giants Barcelona but is yet to be presented to the club’s fans as the ban forces him to stay away from any footballing facility or sports ground.

Barca have appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the same organisation that they successfully had their transfer ban taken away.

A hearing has been set for August 11th with Suarez expecting to be allowed to start the season for the Catalan side.

Whilst his international ban will remain in force, Barca are confident that Suarez will be allowed to face Elche on the opening day of the season.
