Arsenal handed chance to buy Falcao

Arsenal will be given the chance to sign Monaco striker Radamel Falcao if Manchester City snub the opportunity, Football Express News understands.

A source close to the Emirates Stadium told FEN there has been preliminary contact from the Colombia international’s camp, with a view to entering into a serious dialogue if the Blues opt against buying the forward.

The Gunners insider revealed their interest in AC Milan star Mario Balotelli has cooled in recent weeks, and they could still pursue other attack-minded targets before the summer transfer window slams shut.

While City seemingly have first refusal, the positive prognosis on the return of injured hitman Alvaro Negredo means they are unlikely to add to their strikeforce.

The Spain international is due back in action in October after fracturing his metatarsal.

According to LeSport10, ‘super agent’ Jorge Mendes is anxious to find his client Falcao a new club and sees the Premier League as the ideal destination for the 28-year-old.

If any clubs take up the offer to acquire him in the coming weeks they are likely to insist on a thorough medical which leaves no stone unturned, in light of the fitness woes he has suffered since the turn of the year.

He missed the World Cup due to a serious knee injury picked up in January.
