Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has left Manchester United fans sweating after he commented on reports that Mats Hummels could move to Old Trafford.

The German central defender has been linked with a summer exit from Dortmund since the end of the season, quickened after a good showing for his country during their successful World Cup campaign.

Manchester United have been heavily linked and it had been reported that a move for the former Bayern Munich defender was set to be announced this coming weekend.

If the deal, thought to be in the region of £18million, goes through, Hummels will become the club’s third summer signing following the arrival of left-back Luke Shaw and midfield man Ander Herrera from Southampton and Athletic Bilbao respectively.

Although, Dortmund boss Klopp has left United fans sweating after he made several comments during a sponsor event on Monday afternoon.

“Both will stay here this season,” he said. “There is no tendency they’d want to be elsewhere. Did they also say €20m? When papers mention such numbers you know it’s garbage.”
