AS Monaco are preparing to make a move for Dutch play maker Wesley Sneijder as a replacement for Real Madrid bound James Rodriguez, according to L’Equipe.
Colombian World Cup star Rodriguez is set to complete his move to Madrid later on Tuesday evening with a medical have taken place this morning and his move has led Monaco officials to pursue the possibility of signing Dutch midfielder Sneijder.
The 30-year-old is currently with Turkish club Galatasaray and has a contract until 2016, but it is fully expected that after impressing during the World Cup in Brazil; he will make a move to one of European football’s bigger clubs.
Premier League side Manchester United have been heavily linked with boss Louis van Gaal hoping he can sign his compatriot.
However, Monaco, who have an abundance of cash available to them are now willing to pay Sneijder what he desires to move to the club.
The Ligue 1 runners up have also been linked with Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria, who is expected to leave the club following the rival of Rodriguez.
