Mundo Deportivo report that Xavi Hernandez and Barcelona have come to an agreement over his summer exit.

The Catalan midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou since the end of last season, with a move to United States or Qatar having been mentioned.

And, following his return to the Catalan capital after the Brazil World Cup, it is now understood that he will leave the club and make a move to Major League Soccer side New York City FC, following the likes of David Villa and Frank Lampard.

Barca are set to announce the termination of his contract this week with an ’emotional’ press conference set to take place on Saturday afternoon at the Camp Nou.

Xavi follows in the footsteps of Carles Puyol, who retired from football in May, although it is fully expected that both will be at the helm of the club in future years.

The 34-year-old is one of football’s most glorified footballers, winning countless trophies for both club and country, which include seven league titles and three Champions League titles, plus a World Cup and two European championships for Spain.
