Football Express News understands that Liverpool bound Loic Remy rejected a ‘massive’ contract offer from Tottenham Hotspur to agree a move to Anfield.

The French striker has been linked with numerous Premier League clubs this season after impressing on loan at Newcastle United last season, whilst a number of French and Italian sides have also shown interest.

Remy, who has listened to interest from a number of clubs, finally ended all speculation regarding his future last week after he agreed personal terms with Liverpool.

But, it is now understood that he turned down a ‘massive’ approach from Tottenham Hotspur on Friday.

“Loic had plenty of offers, some were maintained, some withdrawn. Arsenal did not take up their option and Spurs offered him a massive wage on Friday,” a source told FEN.

“He likes the idea of putting a Liverpool shirt on and is excited to move to Anfield.”

Remy is expected to join Liverpool on their upcoming tour of the United States, joining new signings Emre Can, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are also closing in on defensive duo Dejan Lovren [Southampton] and Alberto Moreno [Sevilla].
