Chelsea’s Mohamed Salah will NOT be forced to return to Egypt to complete a period of national service with the military, according to reports emerging in Egyptian media this afternoon.

It is business as usual for Chelsea’s Egyptian winger as he travels on pre-season duty with the Blues to Austria following news that previously stated he may be made to return to Egypt to complete military service for one to three years.

It has just been reported in King Fut that Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab held a meeting with the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education to discuss the situation surrounding the 22-year-old.  PM Mahlab has confirmed Salah shall be nullified from the country’s lawful agreement that could have seen him board a plane straight back to his homeland.

The lucky youngster, who joined Jose Mourinho’s side from FC Basel in January this year for a fee of £11m, is tipped for a sparkling career as a Chelsea player having impressed management and club supporters alike since arriving.

He scored in Chelsea’s 6-0 destruction of Arsenal in March and delighted Chelsea fans again this weekend when he netted a goal against AFC Wimbledon in a pre-season friendly fixture.

The news of him staying will no doubt please Chelsea supporters, who view him as a welcome addition to the squad as he brings pace and creativity on the wing, and adds versatility options in the midfield.
